SrchEngine is operated by Thinking Minds Inc. This policy explains what this site collects when you use it, why, and what we never do with it. It is written in plain language on purpose.
What we collect, feature by feature
Newsletter
If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address. Subscriptions are stored and sent with Kit. Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops future newsletters.
Push notifications
If you opt in to push notifications, your browser receives them through OneSignal. Push is opt-in inside your browser, needs no email address, and you can turn it off at any time in your browser settings.
Cookies and the AI Duel
This site uses functional cookies. The daily AI Duel sets a vote cookie so one person gets one vote per duel, and votes are stored with an anonymous hash rather than an account or an address. When you unlock a crawler report, a cookie remembers the unlock for 30 days so you do not have to unlock the same report again.
Site checks and reports
When you run one of the free site checks, we store the domain you submitted and the scan results so the shareable report page keeps working. Do not submit a domain you have no connection with if you do not want a public report created for it.
Contact form
When you use the contact form, we collect your name, your email address and your message. The message is stored on this site and emailed to the site team, and it is used only to read and reply to you. The form also stores a one-way hash of your network address, which we use to stop spam and repeat submissions. The address itself is not stored.
Server logs and security
Like every website, this site keeps standard server logs for security and for keeping the site running. Logs are used to investigate errors and abuse, and they are not used to build advertising profiles.
What we never do
We never sell personal data. We never share personal data with advertisers. No exceptions and no fine print on this point.
Third parties
Email is handled by Kit and push notifications are handled by OneSignal, as described above. The public data sources named on this site, such as the benchmark, rates and statistics sources credited on our pages, receive nothing about our visitors. We do not send them your details, and reading a page here does not identify you to them through us.
How long we keep data
Contact messages are kept while they are needed to handle the conversation. Rate alert data is kept until the alert triggers or is cancelled. Game entries are kept for results and leaderboards. Newsletter and push subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe or opt out.
Your choices and deletion requests
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter or turn off push notifications at any time, using the controls described above. To ask us to delete personal data we hold about you, write to us through the Contact page and we will delete it and confirm by email.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed, and the current version on this page is the one that applies.
